Engineer Senior Software Engineer – Contact Centre Platform (CCaaS) at Vonage

Senior software engineer leading end-to-end initiatives on a cloud contact center platform, owning architecture decisions, code quality standards, and mentoring junior engineers.

Senior Posted about 5 hours ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

Join Vonage and help us innovate cloud communications for businesses worldwide!

Vonage Applications:

Our Applications business unit focuses on delivering a suite of advanced communication tools designed to enhance customer engagement. From cloud contact centers to feature-rich unified communications solutions, our Applications team is dedicated to providing businesses with the tools they need to streamline operations and improve customer experiences.

Why this role matters:

Every second a contact centre agent is on a call, our platform is working behind the scenes. As a Senior Software Engineer on our CCaaS Technology Team, you will own and evolve the critical services that agents depend on — in a global, multi-tenant, real-time environment serving thousands of concurrent users.

This is not a role where you ship features and move on. You will shape the architecture, set the engineering standard, and have a genuine influence on how the team works and what it builds next. If you want to lead from the front, mentor others, and make a real difference to the product — this role was made for you.

Your key responsibilities:

Domain Leadership:

  • Lead multiple initiatives end-to-end — from early refinement through to production deployment — owning reliability, performance, and long-term maintainability
  • Contribute to architectural decisions that shape the future of the platform, representing the team in cross-team design discussions and architecture forums
  • Drive technical excellence: set the standard for code quality, test coverage, and engineering best practices across the team

Business Leadership:

  • Actively care about the product and its users — contributing to improvement beyond code implementation
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, UX, and other engineering teams, representing the team’s technical perspective and influencing delivery outcomes
  • Be a key player in the team’s strategy, with significant influence on project outcomes and the team’s ability to move fast and deliver value

People Leadership:

  • Mentor and coach less experienced engineers through pairing, code reviews, and knowledge-sharing sessions
  • Contribute to the team’s engineering culture — participating in working groups, hackathons, and community initiatives across the wider VCC engineering organization

What you’ll bring

Required:

  • 5+ years of relevant software development experience, with a track record of leading projects and delivering complex solutions independently
  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript and modern front-end frameworks
  • Solid experience with C# and back-end service development on .NET Core
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies (AWS) and distributed systems, including messaging mechanisms (Kafka / SNS / SQS)
  • Understanding of data management and caching layers (Redis, Aurora / MySQL, Parameter Store)
  • Excellent communication skills — written, verbal, and listening — to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • A degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience

Experience we consider a plus:

  • Hands-on experience with end-to-end and UI test automation frameworks (e.g. Playwright)
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g. Terraform, GitHub Actions)
  • Ability to responsibly utilize AI tools to enhance development productivity and quality

How you’ll benefit:

  • Legal & General Pension
  • Life Assurance
  • Income Protection
  • Private Medical & Dental Insurance
  • Eligible for Free Eye Tests
  • Shopping Discounts
  • Optum Employee Assistance Programme
  • Unlimited Discretionary Time Off
  • Three Paid Volunteer Days a Year
  • Additional benefits and perks will be shared and discussed with you by the recruiter during the interview process.

#LI-KF1

There’s no perfect candidate. You don’t need all the preferred qualifications to make a valuable impact on our team. Our employees and customers come from diverse backgrounds, so if you’re passionate about what you could achieve at Vonage, we’d love to hear from you.

To learn how we process your personal data during the recruitment process, please refer to our Privacy Notice.

Who we are:

Vonage is a global cloud communications leader. And your talent will further help brands - such as Airbnb, Viber, WhatsApp, and Snapchat - accelerate their digital transformation through our fully programmable-based unified communications, contact center solutions, and communications APIs. Ready to innovate? Then join us today.

Note: The purpose of this profile is to provide a general summary of essential responsibilities for the position and is not meant as an exhaustive list. Assignments may differ for individuals within the same role based on business conditions, departmental need or geographic location.

Working in engineering:

Working at Nintex as an engineer means building more than just software; it’s about making a tangible impact with every line of code. Our engineers are process experts, developing the industry’s most complete process and automation platform to transform the way people work. If you’re interested, curious and want to learn and do more, the sky is the limit here. We take a solutions-oriented and collaborative approach, constantly innovating our business and products.

About the role:

The Senior Software Engineer, Platform Engineering is a hands-on individual contributor responsible for designing, building, and shipping capabilities of the internal developer platform and the integrations that connect engineering tools and processes. This role partners with the Engineering Manager and senior peers to turn platform priorities into reliable, well-tested implementations that measurably improve developer productivity and delivery velocity.

You operate with strong autonomy on scoped initiatives, take features end-to-end, and use AI-augmented workflows and automation - including functional and end-to-end testing - as core tools to ship faster without compromising quality. You contribute to design discussions, mentor peers informally, and raise the engineering bar through high-quality code and pragmatic decision-making.

Your contribution will be:

Design & Delivery

  • Contribute to the architecture and design of the Backstage-based IDP and its surrounding integrations, with a focus on scalability, security, and long-term maintainability.
  • Design and implement golden paths, software templates, and opinionated defaults that reduce developer toil and cognitive load.
  • Make and document scoped technical decisions, clearly articulating trade-offs; escalate cross-cutting concerns to senior peers and the Engineering Manager.
  • Drive consistency in APIs, plugin patterns, and deployment models across the IDP and integration surfaces.

Hands-on Engineering & Automation

  • Build and extend the Backstage-based IDP - plugins, software templates, scaffolder actions, TechDocs, catalog model, and auth providers.

  • Build integrations across the engineering toolchain, including:

    • Source control, CI/CD, and artifact registries (e.g., GitHub/GitLab, ArgoCD).
    • Ticketing, planning, and on-call tooling (e.g., Jira, PagerDuty/Opsgenie).
    • Cloud services, identity, observability, and security-scanning tooling.
  • Treat automation as a first-class deliverable - including functional and end-to-end test automation (e.g., Playwright or Cypress), CI checks, and operational runbooks expressed as code.

  • Operate the services you build: meet defined SLOs/SLIs, participate in incident response, and learn from incidents.

Developer Productivity & Adoption

  • Treat internal engineers as customers: actively gather feedback and iterate on usability, workflows, and documentation.
  • Improve concrete developer productivity outcomes - lead time, time-to-onboard, time-to-first-PR, and self-service rate - through IDP capabilities and tooling integrations.
  • Drive adoption of platform standards and tooling through enablement, clear documentation, and pairing with consumer teams - not mandates.

Collaboration & Ways of Working

  • Operate autonomously on scoped initiatives — break down ambiguous problems, sequence delivery, and ship incrementally.
  • Use AI-augmented workflows (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, agentic tools) as a daily accelerator; build small automations and agents that remove repetitive work for yourself and the team.
  • Partner with the Engineering Manager and senior peers on planning, risk, and delivery trade-offs.
  • Support hiring by contributing to technical interviews and helping calibrate expectations for the role.

Required Technical Expertise

  • Backstage & IDP

    • Production experience building or significantly extending Backstage - plugins, scaffolder templates, catalog, TechDocs, and auth providers.
    • Strong TypeScript / Node.js (Backstage stack); comfort with React for plugin frontends.
  • Integration Engineering & Cloud-Native

    • Designing and building integrations across engineering tools (SCM, CI/CD, ticketing, observability, security scanners) via APIs, webhooks, and event-driven patterns.
    • GitOps and Infrastructure as Code (ArgoCD, Terraform); Kubernetes and cloud-native application design; experience operating platforms on Azure and/or AWS.
  • AI-Augmented Development

    • Demonstrated, daily use of AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot or equivalent) and agentic workflows to accelerate delivery - able to show concrete examples.
    • Comfort designing prompts, building small agents/automations, and embedding AI into team workflows.
  • Test Automation & Reliability

    • Hands-on with functional/E2E test design and tooling (Playwright or Cypress), contract testing, and CI integration; operates services with SLO awareness and contributes to incident response.
  • Engineering Fundamentals

    • Strong software engineering fundamentals; proficient in at least one additional backend language commonly used in platform work (such as Go or Python).

To be successful, we think you need:

  • 2+ years experience in leading a team
  • 6+ years of strong experience and background in software engineering (Javascript, NodeJS, ReactJS, Relational and Non-Relational Databases)
  • Strong experience in Kubernetes & Containerization.

What’s in it for you?

Nintex has a hybrid working model, enabling us to build culture, learn, and grow together. We intentionally connect and collaborate, while emphasizing flexibility with a blend of at-home and in-office work. This role is a hybrid role in our local Nintex office.

Engineer Staff Software Engineer, Fullstack (ACF) at Skylight

Design and maintain fullstack software systems including LLM-powered features, RAG systems, and knowledge base integrations for a government platform serving foster youth.

Senior Posted about 5 hours ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

About Skylight

Skylight is a digital consultancy using design and technology to help government agencies deliver better public services. We’re at the forefront of a civic movement to reinvent how all levels of government serve families, patients, and many others in today’s digital world.

If you want to play a part in driving this critical movement forward, we’d love for you to join our growing team of public interest technologists.

The work we do matters.

About the job

At Skylight, software engineers design, implement, and maintain software systems to improve government services for the public. This software is built to meet the needs of young adults transitioning out of the foster care system.

Skylight is partnering with the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) to build Fostering the Future, a platform that helps young adults aging out of foster care find the resources they need, when they need them. Co-designed with former foster youth and launching in fall 2026, the platform uses traditional resource database behavior with AI to help young adults in foster care ask the questions they don’t know to ask and access the resources they don’t know exist. You’ll work on both the user experience and the resource set that makes it valuable.

You’ll engineer the platform end-to-end: a chat-like experience that pairs LLM features with a curated knowledge base of resources for foster youth. Day to day, that means designing RAG systems, agent interactions, tuning prompts, refining embeddings, and ensuring any LLM integration is accurate, safe, and genuinely useful. Our stack is Python (LangChain and FastAPI), Postgres with pgvector, Next.js, and embedding and chat models including Amazon Titan and Claude — but we care more about your experience optimizing LLM interactions with knowledge bases than about any specific tool.

What to know going in

You’ll join a small cross-functional team of researchers, designers, product managers, and engineers helping the roughly 20,000 young people who age out of foster care each year get the support they’re entitled to. This is a fast-moving, zero-to-one effort — greenfield development on a new public-facing federal platform, at national scale.

What you’ll do

  • Engineer a software product end-to-end — frontend and backend — as part of a cross-functional team that includes researchers, designers, product managers, and other engineers
  • Design and optimize the platform’s LLM-powered features — semantic search across a knowledge base, prompt engineering, and retrieval quality — so foster youth get accurate, relevant guidance
  • Build accessible, Section 508–compliant interfaces and the APIs and services behind them, keeping secure data exchanges reliable and performant
  • Evaluate and improve the safety and quality of LLM interactions, so the experience stays trustworthy for the young people who rely on it
  • Build secure, compliant software that meets federal security standards and defends against common vulnerabilities
  • Achieve technical excellence by advocating for and adhering to lean-agile engineering practices such as API-first design, simple design, continuous integration, version control, and automated testing
  • Mentor other engineers and share knowledge to strengthen the team’s engineering practice

What we’re looking for

Basic qualifications

  • Experience designing and improving RAG based LLM systems including semantic search
  • Experience designing multiple LLM/agent interactions to search and refine data sets
  • Experience using LLMs to aggregate, refine, and review data sets
  • Strong prompt improvement skills and understanding of LLM patterns that work
  • Ability to write clean, working, and reusable code
  • Can produce high-quality code by adhering to good practices such as automated testing
  • Familiar with how to build secure, compliant software and defend against common vulnerabilities
  • Possess a foundational understanding of data engineering, including how to use various datastores to handle persistent data in software systems
  • Understand the different pieces of software systems and how to fit them together, while keeping performance, reliability, and availability in mind
  • Understand the importance of always putting users at the center of your work, including thinking through the impact and implications of any code that you write
  • Experience working on cross-functional teams (product, design, engineering, ops) in iterative delivery
  • A mindset and work approach that aligns with our core values

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with our specific stack: Python (LangChain and FastAPI), Postgres with pgvector, Next.js, and embedding and chat models such as Amazon Titan and Claude
  • Experience working with databases and/or cloud infrastructure
  • Familiarity with CI/CD best practices
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (e.g., Docker, Terraform)
  • Experience delivering technology in government, regulated industries, or other public-benefit settings
  • A track record of staying aligned and accountable on remote teams

Don’t meet every qualification but think you can do the job? We’d still love to hear from you. If you’re excited about the role, apply. We consider candidates with a range of backgrounds and experiences.

Other requirements

  • Some of our available roles are on federal contracts that require a degree or additional years of experience as a substitute.
  • All work must be conducted within the U.S., excluding U.S. territories.
  • You must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. now and in the future without sponsorship.

As a Senior Full Stack Engineer, you will operate at the intersection of engineering, product, and commercial growth — owning the backend systems that power Bolt Food’s discount and promotion engine. You will help ensure our campaigns are targeted, effective, and continuously improving, working closely with product managers, data teams, restaurants, banks, and other stakeholders across the business.

This is a high-ownership, high-impact role where you will drive features and initiatives end to end, shape technical direction, and help the team build and ship with speed and confidence. You’ll work primarily in Node.js and TypeScript (no prior Node.js experience needed), with some React on the frontend.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Designing, building, and maintaining the backend and frontend systems powering Bolt Food’s discount and promotion engine.
  • Coding mostly in TypeScript (previous experience with Node.js / React is not required, but always welcomed).
  • Paying attention to detail, proactively fixing upcoming bugs, and solving technical challenges.
  • Collaborating with product managers to translate business requirements into scalable, reliable solutions.
  • Contributing to a strong engineering culture through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and architecture discussions.
  • Working cross-functionally with teams across Bolt to deliver complex, high-impact initiatives with clear communication and timelines.

We are not really looking for Node.js experts, but for cross-language engineers for whom a specific stack is just a tool to solve a problem, not the solution itself.

About you:

  • You have 4+ years of software development experience and a university degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
  • You have solid experience with JavaScript and Node.js, C++, Java, or another object-oriented programming language.
  • You have a strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, SQL databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL), and experience designing and developing APIs.
  • You have knowledge of modern frontend frameworks and are comfortable working across the full stack when needed.
  • You’ve worked in product-focused engineering environments and can independently own projects from concept to delivery with minimal support.
  • You have excellent English communication skills and can effectively drive complex cross-team collaboration with clear timelines and structured stakeholder management.

Experience is great, but what we really look for is drive, intelligence, and integrity. So even if you don’t tick every box, please consider applying if you feel you’re the kind of person described above!

Why you’ll love it here:

  • Accelerate your professional growth with unique career opportunities.
  • Enjoy a rewarding salary and stock options, knowing that as Bolt succeeds, so do you.
  • Take care of your physical and mental health with our wellness perks.
  • Celebrate 5 years at Bolt with a 1-month paid sabbatical to recharge.
  • Connect with colleagues at annual company events and smaller team gatherings.
  • Balance flexibility and in-person collaboration with our hybrid model, including at least 12 monthly in-office days.

* Some perks may differ depending on your location and role.
